Mechanics/Mechatronics – Traffic light
The three-week Mechatronics – Traffic Lights internship enables participants to design traffic light components using SketchUp, produce them through 3D printing, and assemble and solder electronic circuit boards. Participants program and simulate PLC controls for pedestrian crossings and T-junctions, integrate and test the completed system, troubleshoot faults, and create technical documentation while applying safe working practices.
Course Duration: 3 Weeks
Projekt Korrekt e.V. – host organisation for Erasmus KA1 projects
Projekt Korrekt e.V., as host organisation, receives participants from all European countries. Over the last 25 years we gained experiences from more than 1500 projects we realised in different fields of profession.
We develop model projects in the framework of Erasmus and ESF, also in cooperation with small and medium-seized enterprises in the region Leipzig and Halle.
We support the mobility of the participants in the European Community and the communication between people from all over Europe.
Our project proposal for your stay in Germany:
Title: Mechanics/Mechatronics – Traffic light
Duration: 3 weeks
Learning outcomes common to all professions:
- Health and safety at work: observes health and safety rules and SOPs.
- Professional foreign language proficiency: improved ability to use a foreign language (English/German) when carrying out tasks, and the ability to formulate short, clear statements for workplace communication.
- Personal and social competencies: develops a culturally and ethically sound approach to working with others in a company; increased creativity and consistency in actions; ability to cope with stress, responsibility and assigned tasks.
- Organising work in small teams: increased ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues and organise work in a team.
Learning outcomes in the field of Mechanics/Mechatronics – Traffic light:
The student learns/knows:
- Selecting tools and measuring instruments while considering the accuracy of machining workpieces.
- Use tools and measuring instruments for manual processing.
- To solder electronic parts.
- To carry out work in the field of manual and mechanical processing.
- How to use technical documentation for machines and equipment.
- Carry out quality checks on the work performed.
- Define the most important settings and parameters for the task.
- Plan dismantling of equipment according to technical documentation.
- Perform tool maintenance.
- Use SPS software for layout.
- Perform the wiring of various components according to technical diagrams.
General tasks
The student develops their understanding of:
- Metalworking (base plate)
- 3D printing and prototyping (print traffic lights), construction the printer and parts if necessary
- Electronics (LED circuit boards for traffic lights)
- Assembly and wiring of elements and assemblies
- Programming the PLC (various tasks possible)
- Commissioning & fault analysis
Placement: Projekt Korrekt e.V., Electronics laboratory and workshop at Gut Wehlitz in Schkeuditz
All of the modules mentioned above and below can be seen as examples. Due to the abilities of the participants or the capacities of the host company, it’s possible that we will have to modify or adapt them. The tasks and activities vary depending on the beneficiaries’ practical and linguistic skills, as well as the companies’ needs and business volume.
